Spring is so much more enjoyable when there is a mix of warm and cool days, because you get this burst of bloom, and then with the cool temperatures, the flowers last longer and the colors seem to be more vivid.
First off, I am so very sorry that a few weeks ago I jinxed everyone by mentioning the snowstorm of March 14 in the early 90’s! Who would have thought with the excellent beautiful weather we had this past February that snow would come once again on March 14! At least my daughter got to stay home on her birthday and play in the snow with her kids.
But onto better things, because one thing is for sure, Winter will end and Spring will follow. I am looking forward to longer, warmer evenings spent watching my grandchildren play outside, my husband getting the vegetable garden ready and knowing that before long, my father in law, Marshall, will be out on his lawn mower, always the first to mow the yard. I am hoping, like I know you are, that we will still see beautiful Spring buds appear each day on our trees and shrubs. With these warm weather thoughts in mind, I have been checking out all the Summer-blooming bulbs that we have stock. I need to go ahead and buy the ones I want before I tell my husband. Hopefully he will just groan like he did last week when I brought home new asparagus plants and then find a home to plant them. I have to be very careful not to get too demanding on where I want things so he doesn’t suggest I plant them myself. I love our joint effort; I bring them home and he plants them!
As you are reading this, I will be on my way to the Philadelphia Flower Show with my friends. I’m looking forward to seeing it since I’ve never, ever been there. If you’re on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or Snapchat (still learning) watch for some posts from the day. I am pretty excited to spend the day with others who love the show and have been before. I’m just hoping I don’t get lost!
