What Is Behnke BaySafe?

Behnke BaySafe® Plants are native plants. They are signed with a distinctive blue logo. To qualify, a plant must be native to Maryland or be a cultivar (a horticultural variety) of a native plant. Native plants are critical for the environment. Many serve as food sources for native insects, which in turn are food sources for birds and other animals. In addition, since native plants are welladapted to our local climate and native soil, they will require less care than many non-natives.

Shredded Hardwood Mulch

Your BEST value! Still in a 3 cubic foot bag. While mulch helps with weed control it does much much more. Mulch keeps plant's roots cool in the summer and also helps with watering by slowing evaporation from the soil. Behnkes recommends you mulch no more than two inches deep, and always keep mulch away from the trunks of trees and shrubs.
