There simply is nothing like picking a fresh tomato from your garden, and dinner is served. The funny thing is that I actually hated tomatoes and would never eat one till about 4 years ago.
What a busy weekend we had last week. Yes, the garden center was busy with everyone buying all their holiday decorations, which we at Behnke’s really do appreciate. But for me personally, I had two very exciting evenings with my daughter and her family.
Friday night they invited me to go to the Glen Mar Church’s “Walk to Bethlehem” in Ellicott City. We got to meet Mary, Joseph, shepherds and angels and saw live animals as we walked through the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. After coming in from this outdoor event, we ended up in an authentic marketplace as it looked in Jesus’ day. If your community ever offers this event I really recommend it.
However, that was not the end of our weekend of family fun. Saturday night I got home just in time to hop in the car with my daughter and Aaron (my grandson) and off we went to the fabulous “Twinkling Santa Parade” in Mt. Airy, in which Aaron was going to ride on his first float EVER!! I can’t begin to tell you how much fun it was to watch his excitement about being in the parade. I left him and his mommy on the float and found a place to watch him go by. He was waving and shouting “Merry Christmas!” as his float drove by. And I walked even further to downtown Mt. Airy so I could wave again. He had a blast, so did his mom and so did I. Have I mentioned how much I love being a grandmother?
I hope you and your family get to make some wonderful memories this season.
